Everything New in the Nintendo Switch 2

Misc

Very recently, the Nintendo Switch 2 was announced, and every gamer was over the moon! We’ve had the Nintendo Switch for a couple of years now, and it didn’t let us down. Previously, we’ve had other iconic consoles by Nintendo, including the Gameboy, Gameboy Advanced, Gameboy Advanced SP, Wii, DS, and 3DS.

In a way, every console was ahead of its time. Most of them were portable, which made them easy to carry around. However, with the announcement of the Switch 2 and the fact that it’ll be released this year, we couldn’t help but be excited for what’s to come.

There have been a couple of rumors about the console, and Nintendo has only given us limited information about it until now. Here’s everything we know about the Switch 2 so far.

A General Overview of the Switch 2

Though we don’t have much information, we’re stoked to know that the Switch 2 is finally releasing 8 years after its predecessor, the Switch. Nintendo has only teased us with a brief trailer about the console. All we know is that the Nintendo Switch 2 is going to be slightly better than the previous console.

So far, we don’t know when the Switch 2 is going to be released or what the price is going to be, so we’ll have to sit in anticipation for them to release this information to the public.

The Outlook

The Switch had a pretty futuristic layout and functional design to cater to every gamer’s needs. As a gamer, I believe that the ergonomics have a lot to do with the whole console experience, which is why I have always preferred a PlayStation controller over an Xbox controller.

The Switch 2 looks pretty much like the Switch in terms of design but slightly improved so that you can tell the difference between both of the consoles. Both the Switch and the Switch 2 have detachable Joy-Con controllers, depending on whether you want to use the screen on the console or a larger display like a TV or a monitor.

External Display Connection

One thing that I loved about the Switch was the option to connect it to an external display so that you can play multiplayer games with your friends. I can only imagine that they’ll improve the “docked mode” for the Switch 2, making the experience even better.

The best part is that you can play online games with your friends using both the docked mode and the handheld mode. The only prerequisite is a reliable internet connection for a seamless gaming session. I’ve always found Xfinity Internet great for online gaming, so make sure that you look into Xfinity Internet plans to get a connection at an economical rate.

Once you get your internet sorted, all you have to do is detach the Joy-Con controllers and dock your Switch on the dedicated docking station. This allows you to connect your Switch to an external display so that you can play with your friends on a bigger screen.

Superior Graphics

It is speculated that the Switch 2 will be powered by an NVIDIA chip, which will give us better graphics than the predecessor. NVIDIA is a pretty well-known name in the gaming community when it comes to graphics cards. In fact, if you ever come across a PC gamer, you’ll know that they always prefer an NVIDIA GPU for smoother graphics during gameplay.

Considering that NVIDIA works brilliantly for PCs, we can only trust the chip to be better for the Switch 2. This will make games such as Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and The Legend of Zelda even more fun to play with stunning graphics. The NVIDIA chip will also help with power consumption, optimizing it to give you better battery performance.

Not only is the GPU going to be better but the display is going to be slightly larger than the original Switch as well. This will improve your gaming experience as you can pay attention to greater details in the game as you play, giving you all the more reason to get a Switch 2 when it releases.

Better Functionality

Nintendo has added a couple of features for better functionality. For instance, it is adding a USB-C port to the Switch 2 for faster charging and probably quicker data transfer as well if needed. Not only that, but the Switch 2 will also have an improved kickstand and new Joy-Cons.

I was already amazed by the Joy-Cons in the Switch, and I can only wait and see how they improve the ones in the Switch 2. For now, only time will tell, so all we can do is wait.

So, What Next?

Now, we wait. We’ve been told that the Switch 2 will be released in 2025, but a date hasn’t been given yet. Similarly, we don’t have a price either, so we don’t know if we’ll break the bank or not. However, Nintendo will reveal more about the console on 2nd April, so fingers crossed!
